Obituary for Arthur H. Schmidt

Arthur H. “Art” Schmidt Jr., age 78, of the Town of Wilson, died early Saturday morning, April 14, 2018.

Art was born on September 9, 1939 in Sheboygan, WI, a son of the late Arthur E. and Althea (Schreiber) Schmidt.

Art drove for various trucking companies. He was an owner/operator, having his own fleet of trucks before opening AHS Auto Body in Plymouth. He was featured in the July 1978 issue of Overdrive magazine for a semi-tractor that he painted. When the decision was made to close the auto body shop, he became an over the road truck driver for Bemis Manufacturing until his retirement.

On February 18, 1966 he married Linda Stimson. They were married for 18 years and had two children together.

His hobbies and passions involved everything trucks and trucking, being a dedicated member of the Waldo Lions Club, cleaning metals, his flowers, and his yard.

He is survived by: Daughter: Leah (Jim) Wagaman-Colon of Sheboygan Falls; Son: David (Natalie) Schmidt of Franklin; Five grandchildren: Allie, Mihailo, Abbie, Emilija, and Adeline; Two great-grandchildren: Graham and Lucy, with one more on the way; Sister: Dianne O’toole of Forest Hills, NY; Nieces: Debbie (Brad) Weber of Beaver Dam, Deanna (Brian) Kelly of Merrick, NY; and Nephew: Brian (Kathy) Schmidt of Elkhart Lake.

Art is also survived by many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Clem, David, and infant Herman.

Following Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held on Saturday (April 21, 2018) at 1:00 P.M. at First Congregational UCC in Plymouth. Rev. Kristal Klemme, Pastor of the Church will officiate.

Family and friends may gather at the CHURCH on Saturday (April 21) from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M.
