Obituary for Debra A. Benzschawel

Debra A. “Debbie” Benzschawel, age 58, of Sheboygan, passed away on Monday (April 24, 2017), surrounded by her loving family at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls, following her courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Two Rivers, WI, on January 26, 1959, daughter of the late Francis and Ruth (Schleinz) Coenen.

Debbie attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1977.

Since she was 16 she worked at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, working in many different areas of the Hospital. She also worked at Heritage Nursing Home.

On May 18, 1985, she married David Benzschawel at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan.

She was a member at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan.

Debbie enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, shopping, playing sheepshead, as well as other games with her nephews, and taking care of her family, especially her grandson.

Survivors include: Her husband: David of Sheboygan; Three children: Kelly (Ray) Gonzalez of Louisville, KY, Jennifer (Chris) Kestell of Waldo and Lisa Benzschawel of Sheboygan; One grandchild: William Kestell; Three step-grandchildren: Tre, Grace, and Thomas Gonzalez; Two brothers: Mike (Cheri) Coenen of Sheboygan, Bill (Shannon) Coenen of Sheboygan; Two sisters: Pat Coenen of Sheboygan, Ann (Mike) Schrank of Sheboygan; Two sisters-in-law: Suzanne (Terry) Heberer of Kewaskum, Wendy (Steven) Murphy of Random Lake; and brother-in-law: Thomas (Debra) Benzschawel of Cascade.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; Father and mother-in-law: Lester and Virginia Benzschawel; and one nephew: Benjamin Coenen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Father Phil Reifenberg will officiate. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan.

Visitation will be held on Friday (April 28, 2017) from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth and again on Saturday (April 29) at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Debbie’s name.
