Obituary for Doyle Spurgeon

D. Doyle Spurgeon, age 71, of Belgium, WI (formerly of Plymouth), passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.

He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on November 9, 1945, son of the late John and Minnie (Christopher) Spurgeon.

Doyle was raised in Wisconsin by his father and step-mother, Linda.

He was a salesman his whole life. From the age of 16, he loved being in sales and talking to people.

On April 11, 1967, he met the love of his life, Imelda Strate, in Shreveport, Louisiana. They were later married that same year on August, 19, 1967. The couple moved to Plymouth in 1977 and celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.

Doyle enjoyed cars, racing, airplanes, talking politics, and telling jokes. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by: His loving wife of 50 years: Imelda; Two children: Trish (Mike) Heinzen of Kewaskum and Darin (Hilary) Spurgeon of Sammamish, WA; Two granddaughters: Daphne and Helen; One step-granddaughter: Kahla; Step-mother: Linda Lewis; Seven brothers and sisters: Donald Spurgeon, Vicki Mortimer, Kathy (Randy) Tyler, Vonda (Roger) Hainstock, John Spurgeon, Kerry (Anne) Spurgeon, and Toni (Al) Spurgeon.

Doyle is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his grand-dog: Montana.

He was preceded in death by: His parents; Son: Doug; Three brothers: Charles, Lindy, and Randy; Mother-in-law: Emily Strate; Four sisters-in-law: Janet, Shirley, Nell, and Sally; and Five brothers-in-law: Joe, Charles, Michel, Rick, and Harold.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (October 14, 2017) at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Christ, 1815 N. 29th Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Galen Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will take place at CHURCH on Saturday (Oct. 14) from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doyle’s name are suggested to the Van Dyke Cancer Center at Columbia St. Mary’s - Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon.

The family would like to send special thanks to the entire staff of the Van Dyke Cancer Center, as well as Horizon Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Doyle and their family.
