Obituary for Kenneth T. Koplein Sr.

Kenneth Theodore Koplein Sr., age 71, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 18, 2018, at Progressive Care Center in Sheboygan with his loving wife at his side.

He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on July 7, 1947, son of the late Kenneth and Florence (Kraklow) Koplein.

Ken graduated from Franklin High School in 1966. Following high school, he served in the United States Army, working with photos and communications.

He worked for AT&T for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. He also served as the manager of Plymouth Country View Estates for 10 years, and delivered for Gannett Newspapers for 13 years following his retirement.

In 2004, Ken moved to Plymouth and met the love of his life, Roberta Smith. The couple was married on June 17, 2006 at Salem Plankroad UCC.

He was member of Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243 of Plymouth.

Ken loved his Harley. He also loved camping, boating, fixing things, collecting pottery and antique glassware, going to the casino, and always loved taking pictures.

Survivors include: His wife: Roberta of Plymouth; Two children: Kenneth Jr. (Mona) Koplein of Waukegan, IL, and Kelly (Mike) Canistra of Milwaukee; Two grandchildren: Danielle Koplein and Micaela Canistra; Brother: Barry (Rosie) Koplein of Milwaukee; Sister: Annette Stegall of Plymouth; Nephew: Christopher Stegall; and Nieces: Stephanie and Cindy; Mother-in-law: Jean Smith of Plymouth; Step grandchildren: Tessa and Nolan Luedtke; Step daughter-in-law: Amanda Luedtke; and Sisters-in-law: Marian Smith of Fall Creek, WI and Addie (Scott) Zellmer of Eau Claire.

Ken is also survived by his first wife Jane, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Preceded in death by: His parents, step-son: Adam Luedtke, and Brother-in-law: Duane Stegall.

Following Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday (July 28, 2018) at 3:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Lorri Steward will officiate. The Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243 will conduct military rites following the service.

Visitation will take place at the Suchon Funeral Home on Saturday (July 28) from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ken’s name.
