Lawrence F. Ciolkosz, age 73, of Plymouth, passed away on Thursday evening, January 26, 2017, in the hospice center at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.
He was born in Thorp, WI on April 23, 1943, son of the late Al and Alice (Sniegowski) Ciolkosz.
Larry was a multi-sport athlete at Thorp High School, where he graduated from in 1961. He later attended UW-Stout in 1962 and UW-Lacrosse in 1963 before being drafted.
He served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 and the Army Reserves until 1972. During his service in the Army, Larry was trained as a Lab and X-Ray Technician.
On August 12, 1965, he married Mary Jane Hedler at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thorp, WI. Following their marriage the couple resided in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri before moving to Plymouth in 1968.
Larry worked as a Lab and X-Ray Technician at Rocky Knoll. In 1984, he began working for Sargento until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 in Plymouth.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching all sporting events, and spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include: His wife: Mary Jane of Plymouth; Three children: Tim (Sherri) Ciolkosz of Sussex, WI, Candace (Brian) Lindgren of Evansville, WI, and Michael (Lisa) Ciolkosz of St. Cloud, FL; Five grandchildren: Travis, Matt, Katie, Chris, and Ryan; Brother: Al Ciolkosz of Thorp, WI; Two sisters: Sanndi Badzinski of Mount Dora, FL and Natalie (Ted) Goeden of Schoefield, WI; Sister-in-law: Donna Hedler of Colfax, WI; and Three brothers-in-law: Phil Miller of Thorp, WI, Brian Solie of Stanley, WI, and Vern Whirry of Eau Claire, WI. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law: Leo and Mary Hedler, Brother-in-law: Jerome Hedler, and Four sisters-in-law: Joan Miller, Jackie Soli, Janet Solie, and Joyce Whirry.
Following Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday (February 4, 2017) at 11:00 A.M. at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Chapel of Eternal Light Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan.
Visitation will take place on Friday (February 3, 2017) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and will continue at CHURCH on Saturday (Feb. 4) from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name for the American Stroke Association.
