Obituary for Lorraine J. Meyer

Lorraine J. Meyer, age 90, of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away on Wednesday evening (May 10, 2017) at Oak Ridge Living in Sun Prairie after a long battle with Alzheimer ’s Disease.

Lorraine was born on August 29, 1926 in the Town of Wilson, WI, a daughter of the late Henry and Cornelia (Sandee) Preder.

She was employed Cleveland Container Company in Plymouth where she met her husband, Willard
Meyer. They were married on May 25, 1946. The couple resided in Jefferson, Sheboygan Falls
finally settling in Plymouth.

Lorraine also worked at Timmig’s Restaurant as a waitress, Steinhardt Brothers Mink Ranch as a
Seasonal worker and Book Keeper and at the Riverview Middle School as a food service worker.
Her husband preceded her in death in February 26, 1990.

She was a founding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Plymouth and remained a member until she moved to Sun Prairie in 2007. She was active in the Altar Guild and Sunday school program in the church where served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Family was everything to her and she doted on her grandchildren whenever she had the chance.
She loved to sew, do embroidery and was an extraordinary baker and cook and often baked for
Special events for family and friends. At Christmas time, she would make chocolate candy and her children would place orders months in advance for boxes to give away to friends and co-workers. Her children would often “surprise” her by bringing home a car full of friends for a home cooked meal.

Survivors include two daughters: Patricia Chase and Jean Meyer both of Sun Prairie, WI; Five grandchildren: Lori (Shawn) Roth of Beaver Dam, Amie (Jesse) Veldman of Plymouth, Zachary (Graciela) Krings-Meyer of California, Dawn (Nicholas) Kumm of Marshfield, WI, and Tyler Gutzman-Meyer of Illinois; Nine great grandchildren; Two great great grandchildren; One sister-in-law: Margie Preder of Elkhart Lake; and One brother-in-law: James Miller of Plymouth.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Willard, one daughter; Karen Knapp and one son: Charles Meyer; one great grandchild; Justin Haase, four brothers; Jerome, Edwin, Raymond and Richard Preder and four sisters; Ruth Bein, Marie Kuhn, Henrietta Miller and Laverne Strean.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday (May 13, 2017) at 1:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Casey Sugden, Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Plymouth will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Saturday Morning
from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Lorraine’s name.
