Obituary for Merley E. Melius

Merley E. Melius (nee Peter), age 88, of Random Lake, went peacefully to be in the arms of the Lord and her husband on Wednesday Morning (May 31, 2017) at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake.

She was born on September 10, 1928 in Sheboygan County, a daughter of the late Leland and Luella (Saueressig) Peter.

She attended Plymouth High School.

On June 5, 1948, she married Russell A. Melius. The couple resided in the Town of Scott their entire lives.

Merley worked at West Bend Co. and was a secretary for the Random Lake School District.
She was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia.

She enjoyed gardening, being an active member at all Church activities and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter: Luan Leibham; one son-in-law: Mark Leibham; only grandchild Lottie (Troy) Schill; and two great-granddaughters: Ellysa and Lincoln Rose Schill. Other survivors include her four sisters-in-law: Audrey Clyatt of Jeffersonville, IN, Delphine Hartmann of Fredonia, WI, Margie “Stella” Peter of Plymouth, WI, and Dottie Reinhardt of Plymouth, WI. She is further survived by one brother-in-law: Walter Hetzel of Beaumont, CA; sister-in-law: Bernice Melius of Batavia, WI.

There were many significant people in her life who called her grandma: Kristina Tadeo, Clint Chilcott, Lauren Braaksma, Emily Guy and Madeline Gluck. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday afternoon (June 3, 2017) at 3:00 P.M. at Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia, WI. Rev. Hap Itson, Pastor of the Church, and Rev. Gail Mitchell will co-officiate. Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held at CHURCH on Saturday (June 3) from 1:00 P.M. until the service begins at 3:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Merley’s name.
