Obituary for Robert G. Stevens

Robert Gale Stevens died peacefully after a brief stay at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on August 29, 2017 after a long battle with MDS. He was 81.

Bob was born on August 25, 1936 in Spokane Washington to his parents Ollie M. (nee Curtain) and Barney Doyle Stevens.

After serving in the Korean War, he traveled the US as an electrical lineman, the family trade, until retiring in 1997. Though he enjoyed his career, he found the greatest joy in ‘employment’ after he retired, when he drove a school bus for the Sheboygan Headstart program. He truly enjoyed the friendship of his co-workers and the children that reminded him every day of his kids and grandkids.

He married Virginia Hogue in 1960 in Plymouth WI, and shortly after moved to Sheboygan Falls where they made their home and raised their family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ginny, of Sheboygan Falls; his four children; Sandy McKinster of Sheboygan Falls, Ken (Kim) of Evansville WI, Deb (Ron) Denny of Sheboygan WI, and Donna (Mark) Creasap of Stafford VA; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Bob is preceded in death by his brothers; Kenny (Hazel), Wayne “Pete” (Flossie), Donald, Stanley, Richard; sisters; Helen Bunnell and Ruth Welch and by in-laws Cindy and David Fischer, Jerry and Milford Hogue and Carol Hall.

It took the constant loving care and attention of medical specialists and their teams to help Bob through his battles with cancer and “most interesting medical journey” until he returned home with our Lord. Special thanks to the many selfless teams led by Dr. Schroeder, Dr. Kumar, Dr. Kuttickat, Dr. Detrana, Dr. Gross and Dr. Vivik. A special thank you to Amanda, Debbie, Josh and Kayla for making him smile and comfortable when it was needed most. A final thanks to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for making his final hours surrounded in love, peace, and tranquil comfort.

Family and friends are welcome to visit Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Saturday, September 2, 2017, between 12 noon and 1:30 pm. A celebration of life service will take place at 1:30 pm. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Kohler WI.

In lieu of flowers, in accordance with Bob’s wishes please donate to the Cancer Care Fund or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
