Violet (Vi) M. Gloede, age 78, of Plymouth, WI, passed away unexpectedly Thursday Morning (January 26, 2017), at Aurora Memorial Medical Center in Sheboygan.
She was born on September 3, 1938 in Cedar Grove, WI, a daughter of the late Wilmer “Bill” and Dorothy (Taylor) Mentink.
Vi attended Adell Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1956.
On June 11, 1983, she married Harvey Gloede at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The couple resided in Plymouth after their marriage and in retirement spent time in Sun City, Arizona. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2011.
Vi worked in the office of Ebenreiter Company, was a self-employed Seamstress, worked at Daniels Insurance, Kohler General Corp. and for many years at Twinbrook Cleaners in Plymouth.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and attended Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City, Arizona.
Vi enjoyed quilting, lawn bowling, golf, watching tennis and her Wisconsin sports teams, the Packers, Brewers, and the Badgers. She made beautiful quilts for many of her dear friends and relatives.
She is survived by her two children: Connie (Ken) Place of Appleton and Kenneth (Byrdie) Schulz of Plymouth; Five Grandchildren: Rebecca (Fiancé: Ben Hoback) Place of Nashville, Tennessee, Andrew Place of Appleton, Taya (Fiancé: T.J. Shannon) Schulz, Second Lieutenant Dustin Schulz of Killeen, Texas, Sierra Schulz of Plymouth; Two sisters: Donna (Richard) Forster of Florence, Oregon, Joyce (Charles) Lett of Plymouth.
Vi is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; One infant brother: Benjamin; One sister: Ellena DeZwarte.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday Afternoon (January 31, 2017) at 1:00 P.M. at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. James Hartman, Pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Suchon Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday (January. 31) until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Violet’s name.
