Obituary for Dean D. Brocker

Dean D. Brocker, age 95, of Plymouth, passed away on July 16, 2019 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.

Dean was born on June 6, 1924 to Frank and Irene (Nurnberger) Brocker in Chilton.

Dean attended school in Kiel and graduated from Kiel High School in 1942. He married the love of his life, Glendoris Karsteadt, on April 21, 1946 in Kiel. Dean served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater from December 1942 - January 1946. Dean was awarded the Purple Heart in 1943. He was a proud member of the Plymouth VFW.

Dean worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Plymouth as a mail carrier for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Following retirement, Dean and Glen enjoyed spending their winters in Texas and summers at their cottage on Green Bay. Dean also loved golfing with “the guys” at Crystal Lake Golf Course, something he did through his 90th birthday. Dean was also proud of the years he served on the Plymouth Park Board, helping to develop the groundwork for the wonderful park system that Plymouth enjoys today.

Dean was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.

Dean is survived by his two “girls”, Terry (Evan) Derleth of Tomahawk and Sandra (Carlos) Rodriguez of Palm Springs, CA. He is further survived by 4 grandchildren - Kim (Jason), Matt (Jenny), Sam and Deanna; a step-grandson Roman (Shirley); and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Glendoris.

A Graveside Service will take place in the Kiel Cemetery on August 10th at 10:30 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at Salem Green Apartments from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Rev. James Hoppert, Pastor of Salem UCC, will officiate.

The Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post 5612 will conduct military rites following the committal services at the cemetery.
