Obituary for Joseph F. Andrietsch

Joseph F. “Joe” Andrietsch, age 87, of Elkhart Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday (December 6, 2018) at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.

He was born on July 1, 1931 in Milwaukee, son of the late Joseph J. and Lorraine (Prahl) Andrietsch.

Joe attended Milwaukee grade schools and graduated from Rufus King High School.

Following high school, he attended UW Madison until 1952 when he was drafted into the United States Army. He served two years in the Signal Core in Petaluma, California.

In 1956, he married Barbara Blawusch, with whom he had his son, Joseph A. “Omar”.

Joe worked for 20 years as a switch tech for Wisconsin Telephone in Milwaukee. While working he was active in the CWA Union, serving as president. That led to his second career, serving as a Union Representative for CWA for 25 years, retiring in 1996.

His mission in life was to help people gain a better life for themselves and their families.

In 1986, he married Louise Schnell. The couple resided in the Elkhart Lake area following their marriage.

Joe enjoyed watching all sports (especially football and hockey), travelling, and spending time with his loving family, especially his granddaughters.

Survivors include: Wife: Louise of Elkhart Lake; Son: Joseph A. “Omar” (Abby) Andrietsch of Hartland, WI; Step-son: Leighton (Stephanie Graham) Schnell of Park City, UT; Granddaughters: Page, Emma, and Tally; Sisters-in-law: Janice Schuh of Elkhart Lake, Kay (Dennis) Price of Plymouth, and Judy (Michael) Backhaus of Olympia, WA; and Brother-in-law: Gilbert (Bernice) Mattson of Elkhart Lake.

He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by: His parents; Father and Mother-in-law: Fred and Emma Mattson; and Brother-in-law: Ronald Schuh.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday (December 12, 2018) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, with a Prayer Service to be held at 12:00 Noon. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Joe’s name to the American Diabetes Association, the Salvation Army and Sheboygan County Crime Stoppers.
