Obituary for Marguerite M. Fuller

Marguerite Marie Fuller (nee Nylund), age 81, passed away early Sunday morning (November 3, 2019)
at Songbird Pond Assisted Living in Plymouth.

She was born in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of the late Walter and Sophie (Maciejewski) Nylund.

Marguerite attended the public schools in Rhinelander graduating from the Rhinelander Union High school in May of 1956.

Her first teaching position was at Oostburg and Waldo; then the second year, just at Waldo. That was 1960-1962.

On August 11, 1962, Marguerite and Richard Fuller were married in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. For the next few years they lived at Lake Ellen, Adell and Cascade. In November 1969 they moved to the Parnell area (Town of Mitchell) on county road S. They lived there until October 2008 when they moved to their present location at North Valley Road (Town of Mitchell). Dick preceded her in death on October 11, 2009.

In the summer of 1964, Marguerite was hired by the Random Lake school district to teach social studies and German. While teaching there, she acquired the nickname “Ma” from one of her students (he said that she sounded like his mom while commenting to him about not being rude to others, but polite). This nickname stuck for the next 33 years, plus. The majority of the student body and faculty called her “Ma” or “Ma Fuller”. She retired from teaching in June of 1997 after 35 years of teaching.

Marguerite enjoyed doing various things with her husband. They bought a river lot on the Wisconsin River near Rhinelander in 1974. It was one of the best buys they ever made. They enjoyed camping at first (tent); then buying a travel trailer and in the mid 80’s becoming civilized with a mobile home, septic, well, etc. Through the years there were a lot of memories there – fishing and enjoying the river property with many of their friends. Also, Rhinelander being her home town, she was able to see many of her relatives and immediate family. She also liked being on the motorcycle with Dick – first on a Yamaha, then Triumphs, then BMWs. Marguerite and her husband were big dog people. Only about after three months after they got married, they got their first dog named “Dinah”. Throughout their married lives they had dogs – either for hunting or just companions in later years. Marguerite also enjoyed gardening – vegetables and flowers. In the last few years of her life, she gave many of her fresh vegetables away because of her health problems, she could not eat them.

Survivors of Marguerite include her sister: Virginia “Ginny” Stefanez of Rhinelander; Dick’s brother: Ken (Dorothy) Fuller of Saukville; and two sisters-in-law: Carol Fuller of Cascade and Betty Fuller of Sheboygan Falls.

Various good friends that stood by Marguerite in taking care of Dick those 11 years plus. Among those: Randy Dippel, Dan and Bill Puetz, Gail Radder, and the last few years Dick Siech. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, other friends and retired co-workers from the Random Lake school district.

Preceding her in death were her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law (Gwen and Royce Fuller), her favorite aunt (Bernice Bardon); brothers-in-law: Jerry Stefanez, Tom Fuller, Paul Fuller and Mike Sweet; sisters-in-law: Peggy Cavataio and Nancy Sweet, very close friend: Dan Puetz and a few relatives and several friends.

Memorial services will he held on Saturday Morning (November 9, 2019) at 11:00 AM at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. John Schultz, Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the Town of Mitchell.

Visitation will be at the Suchon Funeral Home on Saturday (Nov. 9) from 10:00 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for Random Lake High School in Marguerite’s name, or donations can be made to the Sheboygan Humane Society in her name.
