Richard W. “Dick” Wimmler, age 86, Plymouth, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday (November 21, 2018) at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.

He was born on August 29, 1932 in rural Plymouth, Wisconsin; a son of the late George and Clara (Holden) Wimmler.

He attended Bonnie View Grade School; and during his high school years at Waldo High School, both of his parents had passed away. Dick then had full responsibility of operating the family dairy farm; and, shall ever be grateful to relatives, neighbors and friends for the faith and confidence shown to him. He was able to continue his education offered at Plymouth High School - Adult Night Classes with Henry Otterson as instructor; and Vocational School Night classes in Sheboygan.

As an active 4H member, he exhibited dairy animals at state and county fairs. Throughout the years, he took advantage of new technology, crop/animal management and conservation practices. In 1957 he was given the “Outstanding Young Farmer Award” by the Sheboygan Jaycees. He then joined the Jaycee Chapter, and lasting friendships were made.

On November 15, 1952, Richard married his best friend and partner, Marjorie R. Wierman at Waldo Methodist Church, Waldo. For 37 years, they worked side by side on the farm on Sumac Road, southeast of Plymouth. In 1989 they moved to the City of Plymouth but continued to commute to Dick-N-Son Farm to assist son Jay and family.

Margie preceded him in death on March 28, 2011.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Plymouth, serving a term on the Consistory; Director of Sheboygan Falls Co-op Board; Director of Federal Land Bank-Fond du Lac Association; Plymouth Snow Rangers and Paul Bunyan Trail Riders. “Look” Magazine did a family life feature article regarding the Wimmler Farm in 1963. Then in 1966 “Farm Journal” featured the Wimmler Family in their Christmas issue.

In August of 2011 he got engaged to Audrey Widder.

Hobbies included farming, snow mobiling, cards and ‘jeeping’ in the Arizona mountains. For 50 years, he treasured his “Up North” days at his lake cottage with family and friends. In retirement, he and Margie traveled throughout the U.S. in their motor home, and loved spending the winter months with friends in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Survivors include his fiancée: Audrey Widder of Sheboygan Falls; two sons: Brian G. (Diane) Wimmler of Waldo and his children, Melissa Wimmler of Columbus, WI, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Wimmler of Waldo, Aaron Wimmler of Kiel, Jonathan (Karena) Wimmler of Kiel, Phillip (Katie) Wimmler of Elkhart Lake, Angela (Travis) Siebenaler of Adell, Collin Wimmler of Waldo, Preston Wimmler of Waldo, Elizabeth Wimmler of Waldo, Felicity Wimmler of Waldo; Jay R. Wimmler (special friend: Amy Van Ess) of Plymouth and his children: Dr. Breanna (Stephen) O’Neil of Souix Falls, SD, Jackson of Plymouth, Joseph of Waldo and Payten Jay of Sheboygan; Two great-grandchildren: Etta Siebenaler of Adell and Ella Wimmler of Elkhart Lake; two brothers-in-law: Frank (Ginny) Wierman of Hartford, WI , Robert (Ginger) Wierman of Chippewa Falls, WI ; and is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Margie; Grandson: Jordan Wimmler; Daughter-in-law: Kris Wimmler; Sister-in-law: Jeanne (Robert) Gantzke.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday (November 25) 2:30 PM at Salem United Church of Christ, Plymouth. Rev. James Hoppert, Pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation will take place following the services and inurnment will be in the Waldo Cemetery.

Friends may call at the CHUCH in Plymouth on Sunday (Nov. 25) from 12:30 PM until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Richard’s name.
