Obituary for Bernice D. Harrison

Bernice “Bea” (Kraemer) Harrison, age 92, met her savior, Jesus Christ, face-to-face late Friday evening, August 31, 2018, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was a life-long resident of Adell until moving in to Pine Haven in 2014.

Bea was born on April 8, 1926, the only daughter of John and Clara (Neumann) Kraemer. She attended Adell Lutheran Grade School. She met Richard (Dick) Harrison during Waldo High School orientation, and both graduated in 1944 with Bea as the class salutatorian. The couple was married on June 28, 1947 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Adell. Dick preceded her in death on April 30, 1985.

Bea worked at the U.S. Post Office in Adell for 34 years, retiring in 1989. She also sold Sarah Coventry jewelry for several years. She was an extremely patriotic woman. She loved her country, old movies, big band music, reading, shopping, Bible studies, and a good burger from Chester’s.

Through grace alone, in 1973, Bea gave her life over to Jesus Christ. For over 25 years she traveled all over the Midwest sharing her story of how Jesus changed her life. She shared most often through Stonecroft Ministries/Christian Women’s Club.

She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Adell. She was a former member of Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington where she taught Sunday School.

Bea is survived by her three daughters: Pam (Dennis) Jackson of Hingham, Nancy (Pat) Schultz of Fond du Lac, and Jackie (Kevin) Kalkofen of Hingham; her son, Rick Harrison of Sheboygan Falls; seven grandchildren: Nikki (Jon) MacDonald of Sheboygan, Adam (Stacey) Jackson of DePere, Ally (Kyle) Armstrong of Wauwatosa, Abby Schultz (special friend Matt Quock) of Shorewood, Kate (Dallas) Martin of Menomonee Falls, Josh (Torrie) Kalkofen of Appleton, and Jordan Kalkofen of Chicago, IL; ten great-grandchildren: Drew (Gwen), Ryan, and Luke MacDonald, Lyndsey, Hannah, Grace, and Emily Jackson, Norah and Logan Armstrong and Baby Girl Kalkofen due in December; two sisters-in-law: Marie Simpkins of California and Barbara Beine of Slinger. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother (Vernon Kraemer).
A Celebration of Bea’s life will be held Saturday, September 8 at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 12 Noon with the service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bea’s name may be made to Grace Bible Church or Campus Life.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Communities and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The compassion, love, and care given to our mom will never be forgotten. God bless you all.
